Autistic Benefit
What a great way to spend a Saturday night!!! I'm talking about being at the Sevier Valley Complex, Snow College South, and doing a benefit for the Autistic Children of the area.
Monica Anderson the newest member of Latigo comprised of Ken Stevens and Kevan Paul, with her FBLS Club she advises, put together this night of contemporary Western Music. I was asked to come and do a little poetry (you know, lies that rhyme??) What an opportunity!
Starting out with a great Indian fry-bread, Navajo taco supper hosted by the cullinary arts people at the college, the entire evening was spearheaded to raise $500.00 for needed equipment for the autistic youth. After the great meal, everyone headed to the Event Center to listen to Latigo and Sam Deleeuw. I was so proud to be a part of this program.
Latigo was fantastic!! With the addition of Monica comes the beautiful harmony with the lead singer Ken Stevens. Kevan was at his usual best on the fiddle and brought the crowd to their feet with the "Orange Blossom Special" as only Keven can play it! I even go whistles, cheers and hoots for "Spreading Sunshine", which only added to the fun of the evening.
What a great audience! All eight missionary couples for Cove Fort drove over for the food and entertainment and mort than remarked that this was the best program they had been to for a long time... "for wholesome, clean and down to earth music and poetry", With the help of this ever gracious audience who cam from all over the State, more than $1000.00 was raised that evening.
You want to get over the blues and depressions of life??? Do a little service project like this!! I'll be smiling for weeks! Thanks for the invitation to be a part of this worthwhile benefit!
